North Carolina Humanities Council awards a grant for upcoming symposium!

The War of 1812 Committee has partnered with the North Carolina Literary and Historical Society, the Daughters of the War of 1812, the Rowan County Museum, and the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources to develop an informative symposium that will be on April 4, 2014.

Prominent scholars will be on hand to present information on the importance of the War of 1812, and North Carolina’s role in the war effort, with emphasis on the war in the backcountry.  More information on the symposium, including a schedule of events, will be posted soon.

The North Carolina Humanities Council has awarded a grant to help fund the symposium!  Many thanks to the North Carolina Humanities Council for their support of this program and for the opportunities it lends to all North Carolinians to learn more about their state!

We are proud to say that this project is made possible in part by funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
